I still remember the first time I found out about Kima. It had just opened a few weeks earlier as the third restaurant from the team behind Omar (in Nørrebro) and Lamar (in Vesterbro), and I was instantly excited. I stumbled upon it on Google Maps while looking for a dinner spot with my boyfriend’s brother, and it was exactly what I had been hoping to find—a hip, small-plates, natural wine kind of place right in Nordvest. I was beyond pumped.
We went that same evening, and Kima delivered on every expectation and more. The atmosphere was buzzing, the staff were warm and knowledgeable, and the food was genuinely fantastic. The wine selection, paired with the sommelier’s thoughtful recommendations, was something I’ve remembered and looked forward to every time since.
I’ve been back many times—sometimes just for a glass of wine, other times for a casual bite with friends, and plenty of times for a full dinner. Every single visit has left me happy, satisfied, and already thinking about the next one.
Kima’s location might seem unusual at first—it sits at the corner of two busy streets, and I initially wondered if all that traffic would take away from the experience. But it turns out, it’s actually the perfect people-watching spot. From the outside, the place doesn’t look like much, but as soon as you step in, you realize you’ve found something special.
The menu changes regularly, but you can always expect beautifully cooked vegetables with bold spices, fresh small plates featuring fish or meat, and, of course, incredible bread. For two people, I’d recommend ordering around six or seven dishes, but one of the great things about Kima is the flexibility—you can start with a few plates and order more as you go.
In the summer, it’s a fantastic spot to sip wine outside, and in winter, they’ve got heaters so you can still enjoy a drink even if there’s no space inside.
Kima is, without a doubt, one of my all-time favorite spots in Nordvest. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and go! And if you do, let me know what you think—I have a feeling you’ll love it as much as I do.
