As a professional designer who has lived in the Fuglekvarteret since 2002, she has had a front-row seat to the area's massive transformation over the last two decades. Her art beautifully archives that exact transition, capturing a neighborhood that is simultaneously changing and staying exactly the same — where old-school brown bodegas stand proudly right alongside hairdressers and hip new wine joints. Hanging one of her local motifs on your wall means keeping a piece of Nordvest's living history right in your home. Pieces ship, or you can arrange local pickup at Ørnevej 11 by appointment.

Tucked between a local butcher and a pizzeria, Storrs Antikvariat is a charming, nostalgic little time warp run by passionate owner Benjamin Storr-Hansen. Stepping inside feels like wandering into a cozy extension of a book lover’s living room, complete with that unmistakable, comforting scent of old paper. With over 5,000 carefully curated titles on the shelves, the shop specializes in quality fiction, poetry, and humanities (including a small selection of English books). It is the absolute perfect place to slow down, unplug, and browse for a hidden literary gem. If you're lucky, you might even spot Benjamin's "Antikvarmobil"—his mobile, forest-green book truck—out and about in Copenhagen during the warmer months! Local Tip: They are only open Wednesday through Saturday, and a lot of Benjamin's best arrivals sell out in the shop before they ever make it onto his website, so a physical visit is highly recommended.

Hidden away in a cozy courtyard on Drejervej, The Wood Hunter is local, sustainable craftsmanship at its absolute finest. Artisan Mikkel Karlshøj Petersen personally harvests fresh Danish timber—mostly oak—and turns it into stunning, paper-thin handmade vases, bowls, and lamps. Because he works with wet wood, each piece naturally warps and twists into its own organic shape as it dries, with natural cracks beautifully bound together using waxed leather cord. You can walk right into the workshop-boutique, breathe in the rich aroma of fresh oak, and watch him work at the lathe. It’s the ultimate spot to pick up a truly one-of-a-kind piece of local NV design. Local Tip: Since Mikkel is often out in the forest hunting for logs, it's a good idea to check his opening hours or drop him an email before visiting!

A natural extension of Flere Fugle's original bakery — shelves lined with wine, olive oil, coffee, the chai mix from Hindu de Chai, flour and semolina, canned goods, their own pickled vegetables, fresh produce, dairy, and the ceramics from Damhus you might recognize from their cafés. There are even low-waste bathroom essentials and a few thoughtful gift items — including local artist Argentum's linoleum prints of Nordvest motifs. The bakery classics are still there too — crispy buns, pastries, and weekend bread to go. It's the kind of place you pop in for sourdough and leave with olive oil, cheese, and a birthday gift.

Design By Us occupies a beautifully renovated former factory building — original windows, beechwood floors — where founder Rasmus Larsson first set up shop in 1999, becoming one of the first movers to bring life back to industrial Nordvest. Inside, it's less a lamp shop than an installation: expressive, sculptural lighting in mouth-blown glass and leather, alongside furniture for indoor and outdoor spaces. The building's courtyard is shared with a handful of other creative businesses, making it a small pocket of design energy worth wandering into even if you don't leave with a lamp.

Vin de Table is the flagship shop of Melin Vin, and a go-to for natural wine in Nordvest — the staff are approachable and genuinely good at steering non-experts toward bottles that become instant favorites. It also doubles as a weekly (Thursday) pickup point for Birkemosegaard vegetable boxes, and shares an owner with Josephine, a natural wine bar in Amager, so ask about tastings if you want to go deeper.

Høtoft is an easy-to-miss wine shop on a quiet side street, specializing in wines from Slovenia, Hungary, Georgia, and other corners of Central and Eastern Europe you don't often see on shelves. It's run by a couple whose enthusiasm is contagious — walk in for one bottle, walk out with three. Some of Vin de Table's own selection actually comes from here, so wine lovers doing the rounds should hit both. Just note the odd hours: closed Sunday through Tuesday, afternoons only the rest of the week.

Bevar's is a curated interior and art shop with a 70s-retro, sustainability-minded eye — think vintage furniture with hairpin legs, retro stoneware, boho décor, and art pieces, all under the banner "curated interior & art with soul." They also host regular Friday evening art openings (fredagsferniseringer), making it feel as much a small community art space as a shop.

The creative force behind Argentum actually lives right in my building! She ran her gallery and silver workshop here in Nordvest for nearly six years before recently relocating her physical headquarters to Ballerup, but her heart and community ties are still deeply rooted in Nordvest. She is widely known for her stunning, organic jewelry cast from natural elements like pine and salt, as well as her brilliant upcycling work giving old silver spoons a second life. But she also brings people together through the power of making; I actually attended one of her local linoleum print workshops at Storm B before Christmas and ended up creating all of my holiday cards entirely by hand.
